Furniture assembly tech tip – How to assemble a chair

Sometimes there is a better way to assemble your furniture other than the way the directions explain. Today I am sharing the steps that i use to assemble an office chair.

It is helpful if you have  a screw gun with proper bits which are usually  a 5mm but is you don’t have a screw gun or allen wrenches, don’t worry because most chairs come with one in the box.

The fist thing I do is install the wheels into the base flip it over and install the gas lift. At this point I will attach the base plate to the bottom of the chair and I will put the instruction book underneath the base plate so that you will always know where it is in case you have to order parts later because the gas lifts do fail from time to time and the manufacture will be more than happy to send you another one if that happens. At this point I place the seat bottom on the gas lift. Next, install the left and right arms to the seat bottom (don’t tighten the screws at this time). now lay the seat back back face down on the seat bottom, line up the bottom holes of the seat back to the bottom holes for the arms insert the screws but do not tighten. Lift the seat back up, line up the top holes insert screws and tighten all screws then put on the caps.

One of the adjustments that you have to customize your chair is the round knob on the seat plate, this is a springs that you can turn left or right to tighten or loosen the tension for when you lean back in the chair. A larger person will need more tension so that they don’t flip back to easy and a smaller person will need less tension so that can lean back in the chair.
